Product Overview

Cylinder NdFeB Magnets

Cylinder NdFeB Magnets, also known as cylindrical neodymium magnets, are a type of high-performance permanent magnet with a cylindrical (round bar) shape. They are made of neodymium, iron, boron and other rare earth materials, featuring high magnetic energy product, strong coercivity, compact structure and easy installation. Due to their regular cylindrical shape, they can be easily assembled into various devices, widely used in multiple industries that require stable magnetic performance and space-saving design. Below are their typical application scenarios, consistent with professional expression standards.

Ningbo Vanguard Technologies supplies cylinder magnets across the full grade family — from standard N-grade through M, H, SH, UH, and EH high-temperature series — enabling precise performance matching for each motor operating environment. All pieces undergo full magnetic testing, dimensional inspection, and salt-spray or HAST corrosion evaluation before shipment.

Whether you need a standard catalogue geometry or a fully custom cylinder profile, Vanguard can provide sample shipment within 10–15 days and mass-production support for rotor assembly or bare-magnet supply.

Dimension Capability

Cylinder magnets are defined by diameter (D) and axial length (L). Standard tolerance is ± 0.05 mm on all dimensions; tight-tolerance ± 0.03 mm is available on request. Chamfered edges, center holes, countersunk holes, stepped cylinders and special magnetization directions can be customized for assembly requirements.

Dimension Minimum Maximum Standard Tol.
Diameter (D) 0.2 mm 250 mm ± 0.05 mm
Axial Length (L) 0.1 mm 250 mm ± 0.05 mm
Engineering Selection

How to Specify Cylinder NdFeB Magnets

Cylinder magnets are commonly used where compact geometry, easy insertion and concentrated magnetic force are required. Vanguard reviews diameter, axial length, L/D ratio, magnetization direction, working temperature, coating and assembly method before confirming the final specification.

Diameter and L/D ratio: Short discs usually provide a broad contact area and compact holding force, while longer cylinders provide deeper magnetic reach and easier insertion into plastic, metal or machined housings.

Magnetization direction: Axial magnetization is the most common for discs and cylinders. Diametrical, radial, multi-pole and paired polarity options can be supplied for sensors, encoders, couplings and special magnetic assemblies.

Assembly reliability: Chamfer, edge radius, coating thickness, adhesive clearance and polarity marking should be confirmed together to reduce chipping, coating damage and assembly variation.

Custom Capability

Available Custom Features

Item Options Typical Purpose
Geometry Disc, cylinder, long rod, stepped cylinder, ring with center hole Fit sensors, motors, couplings, fixtures and embedded assemblies.
Edge Treatment Chamfer, radius, deburring, polished surface Reduce chipping during insertion, bonding and automated handling.
Magnetization Axial, diametrical, radial, multi-pole, matched flux set Support Hall sensors, encoders, couplings and magnetic holding systems.

Manufacturing Process

From Powder to Finished Cylinder Magnet

Production starts with rare-earth alloy preparation, hydrogen decrepitation, jet milling and magnetic-field alignment. The pressed blanks are vacuum sintered, aged, sliced or centerless-ground to final diameter and length, then coated, magnetized, inspected and packed according to the approved drawing.

For automated assembly, Vanguard can provide polarity marking, matched flux batches, anti-chip packing and clean surface finish suitable for bonding, insertion or press-fit installation.

Quality Assurance

Inspection & Validation

Magnetic testing: Br, Hcb, Hcj, (BH)max, surface flux, flux linkage, polarity and magnetization direction verification.

Dimensional control: Diameter, axial length, roundness, flatness, perpendicularity, chamfer and appearance inspection.

Coating verification: Thickness, adhesion, salt spray, humidity resistance and thermal shock testing according to coating type.

Documentation: Material certificate, inspection report, RoHS/REACH declaration and lot traceability records are available for shipment release.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose between M, H, SH, and UH grades for my motor?
Grade selection depends on the maximum winding temperature your motor will experience. M-grade (≤100 °C) suits most industrial servo applications; H-grade (≤120 °C) is standard for EV auxiliary motors; SH (≤150 °C) and UH (≤180 °C) are specified for EV traction drives and high-ambient industrial use. We recommend providing your thermal simulation data so we can confirm the correct grade.
What is the minimum order quantity for custom cylinder magnets?
For custom geometry, samples can be arranged from as few as 50–200 pieces. Mass-production MOQ is typically 1000–10000 pieces per specification, though this is flexible depending on magnet size and grade. Contact us to discuss your project volume.
Can you supply cylinder magnets already assembled into an assembly?
Yes. Vanguard provides integrated rotor assembly services — including magnet bonding, balancing, and shaft press-fitting — as part of our Magnetic Systems product line. We can supply bare cylinder magnets or complete sub-assemblies depending on your manufacturing flow.
Do you provide material certifications and test reports?
Full material certificates (chemical composition, magnetic test data, coating thickness, salt-spray results) are provided with each shipment as standard. ROHS, REACH, and conflict-mineral declarations are available on request.
What is the lead time for cylinder NdFeB magnets?
Prototype samples: 10–15 working days. Mass-production orders: 25–35 working days depending on grade, coating, and quantity. Rush sampling may be available — please inquire.
